Chester Zoo is continually winning awards for being one of the UK's top tourist attractions and the UK’s number one charity zoo. It is home to over 15,000 animals and 500 different species, including some of the most exotic and endangered species on the planet.

Chester Zoo has 1.9 million visitor every year and provides an all year round, full fun packed day visitor attraction for everyone, no matter what age. It’s a fantastic day out for the whole family.

The zoo offers 125 acres to explore and is not just about animals. Chester Zoo is also home to award winning gardens which are all part of Cheshire's Gardens of Distinction and carefully maintained by a Botany and Horticulture team.

The zoo boasts a world class elephant collection, Tsavo black rhino reserve, realm of the red ape exhibit and it has a unique bat forest and cave where the bats fly freely around visitors.

Getting To Chester Zoo

Car parking is free and on site.

From the M56, Junction 14, or M53 Junction 12, follow the brown signs to Chester Zoo.

Chester Zoo is also clearly signed on the A41 Chester road.

There is a direct bus link from Chester Railway Station to Chester Zoo running a frequent service.

Chester Zoo Opening Times

Chester Zoo is open all year from 10am except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
